Albert “Al” E. Hale, 91 of Toledo, Ohio, and formerly of Bedford Twp., MI, died Sunday, February 4, 2018, in Ebeid Hospice Residence. Born March 22, 1926, in Grand Rapids, MI, he was the son of Irwin and Essie (Timmerman) Hale. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and then received his Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in 1949. He married Dorothy H. Maier on June 23, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio. Al was employed as a Data Processing Manager for Champion Spark Plug for over 30 years, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Robinson-Locke Lodge, 659, F.&A.M., and Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo. Al enjoyed gardening, golf, tennis, traveling, camping, and visiting the National Parks. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Dorothy; children, Doug (Rose Ann) Hale, Sue (Jim) Fuller, Bruce (Valli) Hale, Sandra (Steve) Pennington and Bob (Pam) Hale; brother, Glenn Hale; sister, Jane Vorenkamp; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3-8 pm Thursday, February 8, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 9, 2018. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
